Starting A Website

STARTING A WEBSITE THAT COULD GENERATE POSITIVE RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI) FOR YEARS AND YEARS TO COME

To make money online, you MUST first learn how to start creating a website. Without this skill, it’s like going to college before finishing kindergarten!

On November of 2010, I ‘restarted’ my online business and now, it’s currently generating a 57% positive ROI for me. Meaning, whenever I spend $100 in advertising, sales are generated where I get back my $100 investment and on top of it, I earn a $57 profit. This is the result of a marketing strategy I implemented from that ‘restart’ – a strategy I ignored for more than a decade.

What Is This Marketing Strategy?

Here it is… If you want to make a regular income online, you need to start a website of your own AND your website must be part of an online business system that will enable you to build a list of subscribers (for a newsletter, free report, etc.).

If you can not or will not convince yourself to BUILD A LIST, you are doomed to struggle in making a consistent income online – GUARANTEED.

Case in point… ME!! I thought building a list was a waste of time. After more than 10 years, I finally realized that NOT building a list is not only a waste of time but also a waste of a lot of money.

Ignore Building A List At Your Own Risk

Trying to make money online without building a list is like… trying to collect water using a leaky bucket.

~ R. S. Alveyra

First, I’m sure you know that to be able to make money with your website, you need traffic (visitors) to your website. And the fastest way to acquire traffic (visitors) to your new website is through paid advertisement.

Thinking of going the FREE route? If so, you’re opting for the ‘slow boat to China’.

Look what happens when you send traffic to it through paid advertisement but your website does NOT have the capacity to build a list…

Basically, 90-100% of the money you paid for advertisement (your investment) just disappeared into thin air. This is negative ROI. Even if you use free advertisement methods, you still invest something — your TIME! Think about this… when you lose money, you can earn it back, but when you lose time, it’s gone FOREVER.

ROI – Return On Investment

What’s the meaning of Return On Investment or ROI?

A performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment.

When calculating ROI, the benefit or return of an investment is divided by the cost of the investment. The result is expressed as a ratio or percentage.

The ROI formula:

Return On Investment (ROI) = Gain from investment – Cost of investment / Cost of investment

In the above formula “gains from investment”, refers to the sales generated from that particular advertisement you paid for.

ROI is a very popular metric because of its simplicity.

That is, if an investment does not have a positive ROI, then, the investment should be not be undertaken.

Long-Term Positive ROI

How would you like to have a long-term positive ROI?

Long-term positive ROI can be achieved when you BUILD A LIST! To illustrate this, check these out….

First, WITHOUT building a list:

Now, WITH building a list:

See the HUGE difference??

That’s how you achieve long-term positive ROI — through BUILDING A LIST!!

Summary

According to Chris Farrell, one of the best Internet coaches today, “Whether you’re a newcomer to the Internet or a seasoned online marketer, I suggest that you build your own list.”

97% of people online will try and SELL something right away. This is the worst mistake you can possible make in this business!

Any successful business online works basically the same way — and that is creating a web site in a particular niche (certain topic).

Then, give something away for FREE in order to BUILD A LIST. This is the step that 97% of people MISS OUT!

They are too busy trying to make a sale immediately.

Once you begin to have a list — you can then market related products to your list. Now of course – there is more to it than just this (like generating traffic to your free offer) – but if you understand the above – you understand more than most online marketers.

This is powerful stuff. If you understand the power of BUILDING A LIST first – and then nurturing a relationship with your list BEFORE you try to sell – then you will do well online.

What To Do Next?

For Newbies

I suggest that you first learn the skills to create your own website.

Once you learn the basics, the next skill you need to learn is building your own list. Building a list is NOT rocket science.

Like any other skills, it can be learned – that is, if you want to learn it and profit from it.

For Non-Newbies

  • What cute designs! I agree with what are you saying about building a list…and I’m sure there are many who will doubt that at first … but after some time they will remeber your drawings and will give you right.

  • Can’t agree more that building a list is important. I wish I would have started building a list years ago. One problem is email is becoming more and more difficult with spam issues.

  • Completely agree! I have only recently started utilizing things like Newsletters and to some extent social media and it’s shown very positive results overall. Good article.

Most blogs found online today are simply put, garbage. Yes they are bad and offer no real information, but this is one of the exceptions.. this is a great blog.. THANKS!

  • Thanks for the tip -it truly is important to gain and maintain the list of people’s email addresses, and follow-up with personal tips or offers, as we live in the real world, where integrity and connection are the most important things.

  • It is especially rewarding to see you continuing to practice what you preach in a simple and unequivocal way. Thanks for your willingness to spend your time in the lab testing what really works and then freely sharing the results with the rest of us.

  • Agree. Having your own website and list is key. It’s all about building trust between you and your potential customers.

  • Thanks for the tips. Very true too. I’ve recently started collecting subscribers on some of my sites. I really should have started doing it when I first launched them. I’d probably have thousands of subscribers now. And if only 1 of them purchase something its worthit.

Get that list going! Start now. The sooner the better!

    Mike.
